What is this?

Welcome to the all-new Seattle Talk Radio Blog. I am starting this blog so that it can be used by the public as a resource and a way to keep up with what it is talked about on the radio. Brian Lane started a website for Kirby Wilbur back in January of 2003 so that in his words,

“My goal is to create a site where fans can congregate to discuss the show and to give Kirby a place where he can easily post information that he talks about on the show.”

A fine goal. It is so frustrating to hear a topic on the radio only to forget what that guys name was, or what the website was that was referenced. Brian has taken the first step but his website relies on only himself and people from KVI to update it. As you can see by looking at the site this is not accomplished on a regular basis. Another example of this being done halfway is the Michael Medved site. It only has 3 links that remain visible with no way to search by week. And the links are updated rather sporadically. The fact is we are all busy people. I listen to and enjoy talk radio when I drive. I listen to 570 KVI and Talk 770 KTTH. I enjoy most of their hosts. I think that I will go ahead and create individual blogs for the national hosts that I listen to. If I miss them and you feel that they need their own email me and I will get it started.

Why the blog?

Back in May of 2002, John Carlson asked his audience if he should start a Blog. He reads Andrew Sullivan daily. I had heard of blogs from Peggy Noonan who also reads Andrew. After looking into it I started a blog to see how easy it is. It was very easy. And it gives the writer so much power to just write and not worry about “maintaining” a site. I started with Blogger because it is free and they will host it for free on Blogspot with minimal text ads. You can pay $12 a year to get rid of advertising, which I might do, but if it bugs you, anyone can sponsor a blog and have it removed.

Well I went ahead and asked John to start a blog since he already owned johncarlson.org and it would be so easy to maintain. I even offered to help him get started. He thanked me for the suggestion but I never heard anything more about it. I wondered if it had anything to do with KVI policy. But once Kirby started a website I doubted that was the case.

The power of this blog will be in the ability for anyone to post once they agree to the terms of this site and request that they are added. I would also encourage anyone to also start your own personal blog because it can get addicting and there is way more freedom to say anything that is on you mind on your own blog.

Team blogs can be awesome. One look at The Command Post will tell you that they have a good thing going on there. Another great team blog is The Volokh Conspiracy.

So if you don’t see something linked that you heard about, just add a post yourself. Not a member? Than sign up by emailing me and agreeing to the terms.

This blog is open to all talk radio in the Seattle area except The Buzz. Why? Because I am gearing this blog towards current events and politics.

So sign up and post away!
